College Counseling

Throughline College Pathways

Throughline believes that when approached intentionally, the college process becomes an opportunity for students to better understand themselves — which leads to stronger decisions, more authentic applications, and, ultimately, outstanding college outcomes.

We work closely with motivated students to highlight their strengths, find colleges that fit their goals, and turn their story into an application that truly stands out. Our college counseling keeps students front and center, knowing that a thoughtful, honest approach leads to the best results.

Throughline Provides:

WHAT PARENTS NOTICE

By the end of the process, students often:

  • Understand what genuinely motivates them

  • Make academic and college decisions with greater confidence

  • Communicate more naturally about themselves

  • Write essays that sound like themselves — not who they think colleges want them to be

  • Build college lists based on fit and opportunity, not rankings alone

  • Leave with greater clarity about college and what comes after

The best college searches are those that help applicants discover themselves on their way to becoming adults.

Throughline College Counseling Packages

  • Comprehensive College Counseling

Typically begins before or in the first few months of junior year. This is the most comprehensive package and is excellent for parents and students seeking support in all aspects of the college preparation, selection, and application process.

  • Foundations College Counseling

This is a great option for second-semester juniors and rising seniors who have identified college parameters/ characteristics, have a college list that appropriately matches the student’s academic profile, and a plan to visit or have already visited colleges.

  • SLAES Senior Rush

SLAES (Strategic List, Application, Essay, Support) focuses on application support for the rising senior coming in hot for application help who has a college list and needs to prioritize the college application and essay.

About Package Pricing

Throughline prefers package pricing instead of hourly rates because it works more effectively. There is a limited number of students in each cohort, and Throughline is fully committed to each student, following them attentively throughout the process. Year after year, Throughline sees the positive impact of consistent meetings and open communication, which is often hindered by hourly contracting. Package pricing ensures the student and family will take full advantage of the services and commit to the process as much as Throughline. However, Throughline also understands each student and family has different needs in the college counseling process and will work to create custom packages on an hourly basis with families who have niche paths or specific needs.

Add-ons

The following can be added to the packages detailed above.

  • Sophomore Start (8 sessions)

Many families want to start preparing for, thinking, and learning about the college admissions and selection process before junior year. This plan is perfect for those who want to start in their sophomore year and then continue with the Comprehensive Package in their junior and senior years.

  • Competitive Winter Sports Consulting

Jesse has a lot of knowledge and experience to support students in navigating the path to competitive college alpine skiing. She has written multiple articles on the subject for SkiRacingMedia and compiles annual data to track the number of spots on NCAA teams and the point profiles of athletes.

  • Consulting (billed hourly)

Throughline realizes some students have strong college counseling programs and support already and are looking for on-call consulting for specific areas of the process. Families can choose to consult with us in one area of the college counseling or athletic recruiting process such as gaining insight about the NCAA alpine skiing recruiting process, creating the college list, or drafting the essay.

Throughline Testimonials

  • "My daughter had created numerous drafts of her college essay, but she was not completely happy with any of them. That changed when she started working with Jesse. The constructive and detailed feedback that Jesse gave enabled my daughter to create an essay she was really proud of. I believe it helped her standout in a competitive pool of applicants."

    A. Parent from Telluride, CO

  • "A and B both got acceptances to Bates. Take a look at this letter from Bates admissions to A; “We enjoyed getting to know you through your application. Your essay in particular was one of the most memorable of the thousands of essays we read this year. Your writing was creative, insightful, reflective, and such a joy to read! Thank you.” You were critical to getting her voice heard by the right places. Thank you. This kind of validation is the best there is – even more so than the getting in part."

    K. parent from VT

  • "Jesse was instrumental in assisting my daughter with her admission to Stanford University. She worked with A. to create a path through the deadlines, her current high school workload and testing dates to ensure every task was completed with intention and thoroughness. Through dialogue, creative suggestions, and iterations, she helped A. craft a beautiful college essay. Jesse’s Ivy League education, coupled with her teaching experience, puts her in a unique place to help students with their planning, writing, testing, and admission process. Jesse is smart, passionate, and caring. Any student that has the opportunity to work with Jesse is lucky!"
